Here at St Brigid’s we provide a safe and supportive faith filled environment for your children to learn and develop. We are committed to providing a welcoming, family atmosphere that fosters the Gospel values, student well-being & academic excellence.
Our faith is central to all that we are. Following the way of St Brigid, we strive to see the spirit of Jesus in our actions and the actions of others. Our School Motto “Gentleness and Strength” encourages our whole school community to act with gentleness but with strength in what we know to be right.
As a community we are committed to working together to ensure that all children are able to develop to their full potential socially, academically and spiritually.
If we can be of assistance in anyway, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
ST BRIGID'S DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
Last week our Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced our gradual progression back to normal schooling. This week we see the return of our Preps and Year 1s and as per the most recent statement, we will see the return of Year 2s - Year 6s on Monday 25th May. As per any given term, students return after the holidays or in this case ‘learning from home’ with varying degrees of learning attainment. To allow teachers to plan for all of the students in their classroom accurately, students will be undertaking a variety of assessments. These assessments will enable teachers to make clear decisions about ‘where to next’ for each individual student in their class.
Our School Improvement Goals for 2020 are focused on growth in Spelling and Mathematics. For teachers to be able to make goals for students in their Spelling we will be analysing student writing, assessing students using the Spell-it prescribed assessments and tracking their achievements in Minilit or Macqlit.
Within Mathematics, students will be completing short written assessments for teachers to be able to make accurate decisions about their goals in Mathematics as well.
Along with Spelling and Mathematics, we will be also assessing students current learning strengths in Reading and Writing.
We look forward to sharing these results with you through our Semester 1 report cards.
There will be a P and F Zoom meeting on this Wednesday 13th May 2020 at 7.00pm. Details to join will be sent out from the school. Would love to see as many St Brigid’s families join us and hear some familiar voices again!
